Quartzite Countertops by Star Granite Interiors
Quartzite combines the beauty of marble with the strength of granite, making it one of today’s most desirable natural stones.
What is Quartzite?
Quartzite begins as sandstone and transforms under intense heat and pressure into one of the hardest natural stones available. It often resembles marble with flowing veining but offers greater strength.
Why Choose Quartzite?
Quartzite delivers the desirability of marble with the durability of granite. It resists heat, scratches, and UV exposure, making it suitable for both kitchens and outdoor spaces. For homeowners seeking natural beauty without sacrificing resilience, quartzite is a standout choice.
Pros
- Extremely durable, harder than granite
- Heat and scratch resistant
- Sleek, marble-like appearance
- UV-resistant, ideal for outdoor use
- Long-lasting when properly maintained
Cons
- Needs regular sealing
- Limited color range compared to granite
- Can be more expensive
- May show natural fissures or imperfections
- Fabrication can be more complex due to the hardness
- Some of the white quartzites can hold a moisture line that will not go away. We have only seen this on a handfull of quartzites and appear to only be in the white colors. For this reason we have a quartzite disclaimer to insure you know the potential risks associated with the color you select. With that being said we still install many white quartzites daily.
Caring for Quartzite
Quartzite is very strong, but like all natural stones, it benefits from simple, consistent care. Clean daily with a mild soap or stone-safe cleaner. Avoid acidic or abrasive products that can dull the surface. Use trivets under hot cookware to protect the finish, and cutting boards to prevent scratches. To resist stains, reseal quartzite annually. When maintained correctly, quartzite delivers enduring performance and sophisticated, natural beauty that can last for years to come.
